DESCRIPTION
Lowell Presbyterian Church replaced their existing instrument with a new pipe organ from A. E. Schlueter
Pipe Organ Company. The church began the process of evaluating their organ and music needs several years
ago. The previous instrument was a four rank unit organ of stock design. The organ com-mittee looked at
several companies before selecting Schlueter to build the new instrument.
The organ console is built of white oak. The console interior is ma-hogany with clear maple dividers.
The console is fitted with a Peterson multi-level combination system. The keyboards are fitted with
tracker touch.
The layout of the chancel and the architecture of the church called for installation of the organ in one
chamber. Additional chamber opening was made on the nave exposure to allow for better egress of tone.
It was decided to place the organ under one common expression to provide better dynamic control on the
organ plenum when used with the choir.
The specification was designed with the accompanimental role of the instrument of foremost consideration.
This led to the use of generous pipe scales voiced to provide warmth and body for choral and congregational
accompaniment. The new organ is 12 ranks in size. The organ was tonally finished by Daniel Angerstein and
John Tanner.
