DESCRIPTION
The A.E. Schlueter Pipe Organ Company was commissioned to build a three manual, fifty-one rank organ for Bethel United Methodist Church in Charleston, SC. This new instrument is composed of a Swell, Choir/Solo, and Pedal Divisions.
The eclectic stoplist was conceived as paying homage to American and English tonal concepts, with a purposeful regard for the room, acoustics, and worship style. Each division is designed around an independent 8’ weighted Principal Chorus. A variety of flutes are found on the specification inclusive of open, stopped, semi-closed (Rohr and Koppel) and harmonic A divided string organ division is located between the Swell and the Choir/Solo divisions and compounded by means of couplers.
Located in the choir/Solo is also an expressive, high pressure reed compliment consisting of a Hooded English Tuba,
Hooded Tromba Heroique, Clarinet, and French Horn. These stops are duplexed and non-coupling between the Great and the Choir/Solo divisions.
The organ is controlled with a III Manual drawknob console, and includes features such as multiple-level memory.
Transposer, Great/Choir Manual transfer, pro-grammable ventil cutouts, crescendo and sforzando, and record-playback capability.
This organ was installed in early 2004.
